laughter beneath a motorway bridge

a city drive and thoughts ride along

I ask for directions but hope to find flowers

any bloom promises more

time shaped into souvenirs

a lone woman in a car thinking about fires

away from battle not missing the friction

the GPS machine indicates destination nearby

my memory begins to park itself

finding a little softness essential

to carry who I really am anywhere

Heartening to see this opportunity to celebrate your excellent Aotearoa NZ poetry promotions and attentions. Thanks Paula and Many Happy Returns. Arohanui, Raewyn Alexander
